An
almost complete 40,6cm WW II gun and bunker built by the
Germans during
WW II, mainly in 1942-43. It was handed over
to Norwegian military authorities after the war and used by
the Coastal Defence of Norway up to 1964. Hence, the
facility is very well kept and maintained and contains
original equipment from
WW II. Outside the bunker is a
German WW II 88mm flak gun and a searchlight.
Inside
the bunker you can see a map depicting the extensive German
fortifications along the coast of north-Norway. Some glass
showcases with German equipment used
by the Norwegian armed
forces can also be seen. One of the ammunition rooms looks
almost authentically to what it did in the war years. You
will see tools for
maintenance, a gallery of pictures from
the war years and instruments used at
the CP and OP’s. When
in the turret everything is authentic and you are brought
back to the war years in time and technology.
At the
gun site and inside the bunker complex you can take
pictures.
Important note: You are inside a restricted military area.
It is not allowed to take pictures or film on your
way to the gun site from the gate area, and after you have
left the gun site on your way back to the gate.
