Some of the strongest fortifications in Hitler's Atlantic Wall was build in Norway

This booklet deals with the history of the Adolf Guns and the coastal artillery batteries in the Atlantic Wall, where these enormous 16" guns were used. The situation in Germany after World War I, Hitler’s rise to power and the following rearmament with relevance to the guns is discussed.

The development of the German Kriegsmarine is especially described, together with the development, construction and use of the Adolf Guns.

The German development of the coastal artillery in Norway, with special emphasis on the Adolf Batteries in Steigen and Trondenes is elucidated, but also the batteries in Poland and France. The battery in France at Sangatte was among the batteries that shelled Kent during WW II.

A separate chapter deals with the treatment of the Russian prisoners of war who were used as slave labour in the building of the batteries at Trondenes and Steigen.
